UP CM Yogi Adityanath prays for welfare of people on Shivratri

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday performed 'Rudrabhishek' at the Gorakhnath Temple on the occasion of Mahashivaratri and prayed for the welfare and prosperity of the people of the state. According to sources, the CM kept visiting and offering prayers at temples from 7:00 AM to 2:45 PM.

At the Shakti Mandir on the first floor of the temple, Gorakhnath performed 'Rudrabhishek' of Lord Shiva with cow's milk, after which the Chief Minister performed 'havan' and 'aarti' and then prayed to Mahadev for the welfare of the whole world. Earlier, the CM also offered prayers at the Shiva temple located in the Gorakhnath temple complex. He worshiped Lord Nandi here and performed 'Jalabhishek' of Lord Shiva.

Guru Gorakshnath is considered an incarnation of Lord Shiva in the Nath sect, and Mahashivaratri is considered a very important occasion in the sect. After completing the rituals at Gorakhnath Temple, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the ancient Mansarovar Shiva Temple at Andhiyari Bagh, Mukteshwarnath Temple at Rajghat and Jharkhandi Mahadev Temple at Jharkhandi.

He instructed the officials to make all necessary arrangements for the safety and comfort of devotees everywhere. After offering prayers at the historic Mansarovar Temple in Andhiyari Bagh, the Chief Minister reached out to the children to give them 'prasad'. In the afternoon, the Chief Minister reached Piteshwarnath temple in Bharohiya block of Pipiganj area of Gorakhpur, where he performed 'jalabhishek'.

He prayed for prosperity, salvation, success and peace. There are deep links between Gorakshpeeth and Piteshwarnath Temple. Every Mahashivaratri, 'Gorakshpeethadhiswar' visits this place to perform Jalabhishek.
